Okay - so just who is Applianceplus?

By Wares October 12, 2015 Industry news

The new Applianceplus brand is rolling out across nine stores this month. Which stores and what's the story?

To revisit recent history, following much speculation around the marketplace, on Wednesday 22 July, Appliance Network Society (Appnet) wrote to suppliers advising that the ECL stores then trading as Bay Betta, along with Central Betta Electrical (Alexandra), Michael Fitzpatrick Betta Electrical (Blenheim) and New Generation Betta Electrical (Waiheke Island) had resigned from the group.

Under the new Applianceplus banner, which will have been rolled out by the end of this month, the ECL group is “taking a new strategic direction” and will be providing support functions to the three other businesses, as affiliate members of the group, from within its existing infrastructure. Applianceplus is now part of NARTA.

Thus armed, ECL and the three affiliated retailers – henceforth Applianceplus – are seeking to address the challenge of what they feel are the “significant costs” of support services.
