MYER EXTENDS EBAY PRESENCE WITH WORLD FIRST VR DEPARTMENT STORE

Myer and eBay have teamed up to make the world's first VR department store.

Since Myer opened its eBay store in February this year, it has clearly been working hard on its digital strategy.

To whit, some thousands of Myer products can now be viewed in its eBay store in Virtual Reality (VR) with the aid of a pair of eBay Shopticals (above, like a Google Cardboard VR viewer) and a compatible recent iPhone or Android smartphone with the seemingly Aussie-only eBay Virtual Reality Department Store app loaded.

The phone slots into the Shopticals, up goes the volume and you're away. The user's line of sight navigates you through the departments, products and the final transaction.

Such is the popularity of the venture that eBay has surpassed its daily allocation of 1,000 Shopticals since launch.

You could however equally shop virtually using one of the rather more costly VR headsets that are available (through eBay of course...).
