FINAL WARNING? MISLEADING PRICE STRATEGIES WILL BE PENALISED

By Wares May 11, 2017 Industry news

The Commerce Commission has just served further notice that misleading pricing strategies won't be tolerated.

With the final outcomes of the Commerce Commission's interest in Bunnings' price strategies still to come, in a communication this morning the Commission rattled off a list of penalties already handed out by way of a reminder that misleading prices will not be tolerated.

In addition it issued an "open letter to retailers" (open as a PDF here) where it reiterated its concerns over cases where "price claims are not accurate and discounts are exaggerated".

The Commission has also issued a handy guide to price promotions to help retailers avoid breaches of the Fair Trading Act (open as a PDF here).

Don't say you weren't warned, in other words...
